“Bostina & Associates” Lawyers participated in a seminar on the topic of waste management, organized by the Romanian Salubrity Association in the period 1-5 September 2008.

 

The event took place in Mamaia and gathered representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Economy and Finance and of the companies having sustained activity in sites decontamination, representatives of local and county authorities, as well as representatives of the operators of public utility community services.

 

Within the first section of the seminar, „Contaminated Sites – a new challenge for Romania”, Catalin Giscan, head of the Public Authorities, Environment and Utilities Department with “Bostina & Associates”, presented the topic „Specialised legal advice a necessity in the projects for rehabilitation of contaminated sites”, wherein he presented the reasons for which the Beneficiaries (local authorities) and undertakings call for specialised legal advice in relation to the completion and implementation of a project in respect of which financing from European funds is requested.

 

Catalin Giscan actively participated also in the Annual Meeting of Specialists in Waste Management, during which he talked about the conditions and modalities for establishing the institutional framework for financing waste management projects.

Involvement in this seminar represented an opportunity for „Bostina & Associates” Lawyers to support the initiative of environment protection, a highly important problem for our society, to directly interact with the representatives of the environment sector and to enhance and, last but not least, to consolidate the legal expertise in this field.
