The Ministry of Transportation has chosen the Deloitte and Bostina & Associates Consortium with a view to drawing up the strategy of privatization of CFR Marfa.
On December 12th the agreement between the Ministry of Transportation and the consultancy consortium comprising of the Deloitte Romania company as the consortium leader and the Bostina & Associates law firm was signed, with a view to granting specialized consultation within the process of drawing up the strategy of privatization of the Railway Transport National Company„CFR Marfa” S.A.
The project of privatization of the Railway Transportation National Company„CFR Marfa” S.A. is a strategic one, aiming in principal at the development of the railway transport by the substitution and transfer of heavy goods from road to railway. These changes shall decongest the road traffic in the areas transited by the goods-transport vehicles and in the border areas. Moreover, by reducing the noxious substances produced by the vehicles, the traffic transfer to railways shall have a positive impact on the environment.
„The privatization of CFR Marfa shall be an extremely important process. We deem it absolutely necessary to draw careful attention to the correct drawing up of the strategy of privatization of CFR Marfa. Both the Government of Romania and CFR Marfa and the entire country shall benefit from this privatization. The consultation consortium which Deloitte, as the consortium leader, and Bostina &Associates are part of, shall grant consultation to the Ministry of Transportation with respect to the drawing up of the privatization strategy. The specialists benefit from a notable experience in privatizations and infrastructure projects. We are confident in the success of this project” Ludovic Orban, the Minister of Transportation stated.
