Bostina and Associates achieved its objectives for 2009, reporting € 16.98mn in revenues from legal consultancy and other related consultancy businesses conducted in Romania and abroad, i.e. an increase of 2.11% from 2008. Litigation & Judicial Enforcement, Energy, Oil & Gas and IT&C were the departments that contributed most to the turnover’s increase.
Managing Partner Doru Bostina: “Amid the recession and the Romanian economy’s sharp decline, in 2009 we focused on the organic growth of our firm. We continued to expand countrywide in order to manage national-level projects more easily. We also strengthen those practice areas that are usually in demand during times of crisis. Investing European funds in infrastructure, utilities, environment, renewable energy, etc. might have a positive impact on the business law market in 2010 – but we do not expect it to grow at the same pace as in 2006-2008”.
Despite pressures, we did not cut jobs or salaries in 2009; neither did we cut on expenditure, but rationalized it instead. The cost-controlling system that has been in place for about 2 years enabled us to promptly identify saving opportunities without jeopardizing the proper development of operating flows, while responding more rapidly to our clients’ demands.
In 2010 we aim to continue the organic growth of our business. In the current economic environment, we expect our activity to grow especially in the utilities, infrastructure, environment and energy industries, which will receive massive EU financial support. However, litigation will continue to remain the practice area on which we count most.
